Community Advisory Committee Meetings (CAC )

Our CAC is held quarterly the first Thursday of February, May, August, and November. The overall purpose of the CAC is to promote the continuous quality improvement of the operations of Champion Services. We also view it as an opportunity to communicate with our individuals and their family members/guardians regarding activities and developments within Champion Services. Please contact Denise Gasmire or the administrative office for details.

Community Events

Company Picnic

Champion Services hold an annual company picnic for staff, individuals, and their families. It is a time to connect, share stories and create some happy memories. Our picnics are held in the fall and include lots of good food, fellowship, and some fun games to get everyone up and participate.

Special Olympics

Champion Services actively supports our individuals’ involvement in numerous types of recreational and leisure activities. Many of our individuals participate in Special Olympics activities throughout the year such as basketball, track and field, swimming, bowling, golfing, bocce ball and softball. They attend local and regional competitions and have brought home many metals which they proudly display. Our staff keeps families and friends informed of SO competitions so that they too may participate.

Advocating at the State and Federal Levels

Champion Services has been very active in voicing our concerns to members of the legislature and HHSC staff members. We work closely with the Providers Alliance for Community Services of Texas (PACSTX) to make sure that our elected leaders understand that reimbursement rates and legislative changes can have profound impacts on over 32,000 individuals with IDD in Texas. There are many companies and advocacy groups working hard to get the message out but we cannot do it alone. We understand that our representatives and senators are tasked with solving and addressing many issues but we must help them understand the importance of the HCS and ICF programs and what these programs need to adequately care for individuals with IDD.

Festivals and Seasonal Events

Champion Services participates in many local festivals and seasonal events throughout the year. Our individuals enjoy going to the Grapevine Main Street Days, ICE at the Gaylord, Grapevine Christmas Parade, Life Expo, car shows, Halloween events, North Richland Hills Concert Series, Southlake Octoberfest, among many other community events and opportunities.
